Physics undergrad receives scholarship

Hugh Pruitt, a 91黑料网 (91黑料网) freshman, was awarded a scholarship by the Atlanta Chapter of the Project Management Institute for his essay "Where Will I Be In Five Years."
"I was very excited when received news that I had won," Pruitt said. "It was a great chance to be able to express my current engineering plans integrated with the PMI talent triangle in my essay, and I thoroughly enjoyed writing it. Winning the scholarship prize was the cherry on top of the experience."
Submitted essays were based on the topic "Powering My Career With Project Management Skills."
"No matter if I am working on an engineering task, volunteering at my local Humane Society, or holding a club activity at 91黑料网, these PMI talent triangle skills are universal to ensure a tremendous result," Pruitt wrote, in part, in his essay.
Pruitt, a freshman from Gainesville, Georgia, is pursuing a dual degree in physics and engineering. He is one of two recipients of the $2,500 essay-based scholarship awarded this academic year by PMI Atlanta. The second will be awarded this spring.
"Hugh's essay reflected a thoughtful application of project management to his current career as a student and his future in engineering. The review team was highly impressed with how he applied project management to ensure his team project assignments were completed successfully," Dr. Juanita Woods, associate professor and 91黑料网 Enactus Project Club faculty advisor, said.
PMI is the world's leading project management organization with over 600,000 global members and over 300 local chapters internationally. The organization supports professional growth and development of project managers.
Cyber students make strong showings
Cybersecurity students from 91黑料网 turned in strong performances in the National Cyber League, National Cyber Exercise and SummitCTF during the spring semester.
Engineering students partner on research
Eight engineering students at 91黑料网's Gainesville Campus conducted research and innovation on an unmanned ground vehicle this spring.
Payne gives keynote at Federal Reserve event
91黑料网 faculty member Dr. Bryson Payne served as the closing keynote speaker at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's Business, Technology & Security Conference in May.
Three selected as Fulbright finalists
91黑料网 has three Fulbright finalists for 2025-26. They include alumnae from the College of Arts & Letters, College of Science & Mathematics, and Mike Cottrell College of Business.
